Under NHS AfC Section 13.5, part-time employees receive a pro-rata annual leave and bank holiday allowance calculated in hours based on contracted weekly hours relative to the 37.5 hour standard full-time week.
Previous service with any NHS employer counts toward your total service length, regardless of any breaks in service, provided you left previous NHS employment after 1 April 2002.
Part-time NHS annual leave is calculated in hours: (Weekly Contracted Hours ÷ 37.5) × Full-Time Annual Leave Hours. Bank holidays are added on top using the same pro-rata ratio: (Weekly Hours ÷ 37.5) × 60 Hours.
Yes, Agenda for Change grants 8 statutory bank holidays (60 hours for full-time staff). If you work on a bank holiday, you receive enhanced pay plus hours in lieu (TOIL) back to your leave allowance.
